A recent investigation in New York State has led a group of attorney generals to form a coalition to address the quality control issues of the 5 billion dollar a year herbal supplement industry. This investigation was spurred by findings that four main national retailers of herbal supplements were selling products that did not contain the labeled ingredients, and/or contained additional substances not listed on the label. So, the next time a patient asks you were they should be buying their
